About Us
We are addressing a common, difficult, yet overlooked problem that many women face: pain during intrauterine contraceptive device (IUD) insertion. IUDs are one of the most effective forms of birth control, yet the fear associated with insertion pain is the single greatest barrier to adoption. Current IUDs have a rigid T-shaped plastic frame with arms and dangling strings that protrude from the cervix. These strings are needed to confirm placement of the T-shaped device and to remove it. Our nonhormonal, frameless IUD (product code 3D-001) is designed to conform to a woman’s body – with no strings attached. We plan to start clinical trials in 2025 to evaluate its safety and efficacy.
3D-001 is based on a revolutionary design comprised of three small elliptical magnetic units. The three elliptical magnetic units are inserted sequentially into the uterus using our flexible i-Slider™ (inserter), where they are ejected after passing the cervix. The elliptical IUD units then immediately self-assemble into a stable triangle that floats gently to adapt to the ever-changing uterine environment.
Our simple magnetic retriever, the r-Slider™, is used to remove the three magnetic ellipses sequentially, in one continuous step. Both the i-Slider and the r-Slider are unique patented technologies of 3Daughters.
The 3Daughters team is driven by our fundamental belief that our daughters, and daughters everywhere, deserve more and better contraceptive options than those currently available.
And we are not just focused on contraception! We are also exploring the possibility of using our uterine delivery technology to treat other problematic conditions that could benefit from targeted therapy delivered directly to the uterus.

Out with the old...
The rigid, plastic T-shaped IUD has been available for over 40 years, with little to no innovation. Insertion is painful and involves numerous painful steps, and removal requires bothersome dangling strings, which are a nuisance for women and their partners. Most importantly, the pain associated with insertion and removal is widely known, leading to a nearly universal fear, particularly among younger women, of selecting an IUD. This ‘fear factor’ is a significant barrier that prevents women from adopting one of the most effective forms of contraception. 3Daughters’ goal is to eliminate this barrier to adoption and radically transform the IUD experience for both practitioners and patients.
According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), unintended pregnancy is a persistent major public health problem. Younger women between the ages of 15-25 have the greatest number of unintended pregnancies; approximately 42% result in abortion. Women in this demographic, especially those who have not previously given birth, are particularly fearful of IUD placement.
Although lowering unintended pregnancy rates requires multiple approaches, increasing adoption of IUDs in the younger population could significantly contribute to the solution. 3Daughters is committed to helping this solution become reality.

In stark contrast to current IUDs with rigid plastic T-shaped frames, 3Daughters has a newly designed, patented, and frameless magnetic self-assembling IUD. Our IUD uses principles of physics and geometry that allows the three magnetic elliptical units that make up our IUD to form into a stable triad. This triangular form is expected to gently float in the uterus, conforming naturally to a woman’s body.
Our priority is women. We are addressing neglected problems and the lack of innovation that have plagued the field. With our magnetic, frameless IUD platform, we plan to solve the difficult issue of IUD insertion pain. But this will just be the beginning of exploring the utility of our technology to address other uterine conditions that could benefit from targeted drug delivery.
